About

Hi! If you are looking for more information about me, and what I do, you are in the right place. My name is Andrew and I am a LMFT-A (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate) serving the upstate of South Carolina. I  take a holistic, systemic and evidence-based approach to mental health. This means that I look at the aspects of a concern from multiple angles and through the lens of relevant research in order to provide the best service I can.

What does this mean for you? Simply, that your therapy experience will be tailored to you. No two people have the exact same life experiences, concerns, and goals. That is why you deserve therapy that is designed with you in mind. My focus is on you and your unique attributes, not just your presenting concern. This means that, while helping you through whatever it is that brings you to therapy, you will be seen and cared for as a unique person.

If you would like more information, feel free to call, text, or email.

FAQ

What populations do you work with?

The short answer is “Anyone”.  I help people with a variety of concerns from all walks of life as much as it is within my scope of practice to do so.

That being said, my primary professional areas of focus are: parents and families who have a child on the autism spectrum and young adult/college age men.

Both of these populations are particularly close to my heart and seem to be under-served in the upstate mental health community.

Do you only see families/married couples?

Nope!  This does come up a lot for MFTs. While I certainly do work with couples (married or not) and families, I also work with individuals and concerns/problems not related to relationships.

Do you provide diagnostic / testing services?

Currently, I do not provide testing as a service. However, I am more than happy to provide you with referrals and/or information if you are seeking testing for yourself or your child.

That being said, I do sometimes utilize certain diagnostic and testing materials when working with existing clients to aid with their therapy on a case by case bases.

Do you provide or sign letters for an ESA (Emotional Support Animal) ?

I do not provide this service.

Are you religious/spiritual? / Do you work with religious/spiritual/non-religious people?

In the spirit of full disclosure, yes, I am a Christian. That being said, I work with individuals and families of various belief systems, identities, backgrounds, and cultures.  Whether or not, or how much religion or spirituality is brought up in our sessions is completely your decision.

What models or types of therapy do you use?

I use a variety of models/methods based on your needs. However, most of the time I tend to approach therapy from a solution-focused perspective. This means that I generally take the stance of, “while the past can be informative, it can’t be changed.” Therefore, I tend to focus on the solution and how to implement change for the future beginning now.

I also frequently incorporate narrative and CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), as well as aspects of several other systemic models; but ultimately, your therapy experience will be tailored to you and your needs.

What degree do you have?

I have a Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy from Converse University.
